Membership update

Quickly from Deb, I just wanted to take a second to ask everyone to shoot me an email with your correct information. I tried hard to reconcile the list last year, yet I am still questioning whether everyone’s information is correct. I am expecting a lot of email and I know this will be the hard way, but I would much rather take a few hours now to make sure we have your information correct. The information we include and need:

Member (Include spouse of he/she is a member as well)
Mailing Address (so you can receive all the cute postcards we will be sending out)
Home Number (Not a must have, but a nice to have)
Cell Phone (Especially if you do not want us calling you at home)
Email Address (I really hope I have it right, if not, you’re not getting this)
I’d like to have your birthdays and anniversary dates as well, as I would like to send out a birthday and/or anniversary message to you….(This is totally voluntary, month and day only)

Please feel free to email me here or at myrealtordeb@gmail.com.

Thank you everyone for everything you do!

Sincerely,
Deb Barber
Secretary, Bryan County Republican Party

Topics of Discussion

Old Business

  • Reminded everyone Johnny Murphy resigned as the Chairman and that Karen Hewitt (who was 2nd) is now the acting Chairman until another can be elected.

    • We will need to elect a new chairman.

    • A nominating committee will be formed, April Groves and Jolene Lea volunteered to be on the nominating committee.

    • The new Chairman should be re-electable at the March convention.

    • The new Chairman should be able to help build the party.

    • While discussing the need of a new Chairman, Dexter Brewer, who is very knowledgeable from working with Spaulding County GOP, wanted to make sure we have all our ducks in a row and are following the appropriate steps to do so.  This is very much appreciated.

  • Karen noted we are “in the hole” at this time, to not fault of our own, as many of our functions were rained out this year and people did not attend, however, the vendors still had to be paid.

    • Karen asked for a financial report, however it was not available due to a software glitch which will be corrected by the next meeting.

New Business

  • Our Purpose

    • To raise money and awareness for local and regional candidates, as well as state and federal.

    • Increase Membership (the northern portion of Bryan Co. has a higher percentage of democrats than republican, we need to show a strong standing county wide.)

    • In the political area, we have a tough year ahead of us and we need to be strong in the party.

  • Seafood Festival  10/19 - 10/21 (Friday 5p - 11p, Saturday 10a - 11p, and Sunday 11a - 4p)

    • We started signing up members, but still need more.

    • Looks like we have the cooks we need.  (Thank you Clyde Smith, Tommy Lancaster, Allen Lancaster, and Eddie Warren!)

    • We need more members to help serve.  (We have Friday filled, but need 3 to 4 servers per shift per day on Saturday and Sunday, shifts are 2 to 2.5 hours long) - Contact Karen, Debra, or Wendy if you need to sign up.

    • We discussed making posters, banners, and signs for the Seafood Festival (both for the menus and for the party), April volunteered her husband to make these!  (Thank you!) Amd. Karen found our GOP banner, says it looks good and we can use it!

    • We need help setting up and tearing down.  (We will be in the park Thursday evening at 6 pm to start set-up, if you can come by to help, that would be appreciated!)

    • We will keep our prices the same for the crab stew we were made famous for in 2005!  $3 per bowl.We will serve iced tea as well as soft drinks.

    • Alexandra will be handling decorations.

    • We need to get a list of the local officials who plan to serve so we can get name tags made for them.

    • Volunteers will have to pay to get in to the festival, regular prices.

    • Volunteers working with the food will need to wear hats and gloves…mandatory.

  • Reminders

    • We will not have a Christmas function this year, instead, we will have a function in January to kick-off the election year!

    • Dues will be due in January, as follows - $25 per person OR $30 per couple

Georgia Republican Party Statewide Grassroots Training Seminars

From the desk of Sue P. Everhart, Chairman, Georgia Republican Party

Greetings Fellow Republicans:

I’m very excited to announce our Georgia Republican Party Statewide Grassroots Training Seminars! We will again be visiting all corners of the state to continue to build on an already dominant grassroots network.

We hope these seminars will provide a more in depth knowledge of campaigning and aid in your grassroots efforts that are so vital to the successes of the Republican Party. These seminars will provide detailed information concerning growing our Party, campaign finance laws, get-out-the-vote programs, early voting, absentee voting programs, and much more. With such an important election season on the horizon, all of us must be equipped with the information and tools available to ensure Republican victories.

Thanks to your enthusiasm and commitment, we reelected Governor Perdue, elected our first Republican Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of State, and added to our majorities in the General Assembly in 2006. As you know, the 2008 election is vitally important and with your help, we will again lead the nation in Republican successes. Together I know we can elect a Republican president, reelect Senator Chambliss, finally take back the 8th and 12TH Congressional Districts, and continue to build on our majority in the General Assembly.

I look forward to continuing our partnership with each and every one of you and I know with our great leadership around the state and the dedicated, hard working Grassroots Republicans like yourselves, Georgia will continue to grow stronger and move forward towards greatness. Thank you for your continued hard work and dedication that makes Georgia such a successful state.

Sincerely,

Sue P. Everhart
Chairman

Thanks for a Great “Hula on the Hill”

Everyone agreed - Hula on the Hill was a fantastically great time.  The Bryan County GOP enjoyed great food, great music, and phenomenal guests - even if the weather dodn’t quite cooperate.

We were honored to have Jack and Libby Kingston, and Eric Johnson attending the event.

Bucky and Barry provided the dancing tunes while Bruce and his crew at Outriggers really served up the eats, drinks, and service.

You can look over here for some fantastic pictures from throughout the evening.
